Thermal stability in reloading powders has always been an issue, but with recent advances in Long Range and ELR shooting, it has become a serious worry for shooters. Long-range shooting puts more strain on ammunition, equipment, and the shooter himself. Allowing a shooter to satisfy these objectives entails improving the technique, and eliminating those factors which diminish hit probability. With the development of more temperature-insensitive propellants, Extreme Spreads and Standard Deviation may be considerably decreased, resulting in less vertical dispersion on target.

They produce all of their propellants in-house, ensuring great quality. All Vihtavouri reloading powders are prepared using nitrocellulose produced in-house. Vihtavuori rifle and pistol powders provide continuously faultless fire performance, resulting in the dependable reloading and ammunition you want. Extruded propellants are used in all Vihtavuori powders for customers. Propellant grains are perforated cylinders of different diameters, flat ribbon flakes or other forms extruded for unique uses. The grain shape of various kinds of gunpowder offers the desired combustion properties for the cartridge application. Vihtavuori gunpowders have a minimum shelf life of 10 years if kept and sealed in their original containers at a temperature of 20°C and relative humidity of 55%. Vihtavuori reloading powders are packaged in bottles, canisters, and fiberboard boxes.
